First Day Check-In- A Lil' Bit O' Everything!
Check In Day- Your cadets are checked in and getting settled into their divisions. They have met their LPO's/ALPO's and Divos who will guide them through their training this week. They have had their first classes of the week, got their study guides and guidons. It has been a great start to the week. Stay tuned for more photos.

Second Day - Gimmy some PT!
Today was PRT time for your cadets. They enjoyed the cool bay area weather, did their push ups and sit ups on the ship then headed down, pier side to complete their one mile run. We are proud of all of our cadets for pushing through the run, showing great strength in wanting to continue to try their hardest even though they were tired already.
Division One had galley duty today. All divisions had classes on Code of Conduct, General Orders, Marching and Sound Power Phones

Division 3 got some division time with their Division Officers Inst Brock and Inst Manuele as well as Code of Conduct training by LT Dayhoff.
Day Three - Picture Day!
Today is picture day! Your cadets got dressed in their dress uniform and posed in formation for our divisional pictures. Division 1 won the first top gun award this year. Divisions are graded on their berthing cleanliness, military bearing, knowledge, professionalism and classroom behavior. Division one will have the privilege of first in line for chow today and tomorrow morning.
Division 2 has kitchen duty today. They will be serving breakfast and lunch and helping with dinner service. They also participated in divisional photos in their dress uniform. Today they will be getting classroom training on first aid and knot tying.

Today was division 3's turn to serve chow. They did a great job keeping full bellies for all cadets and staff. Much appreciated Division 3! Division 3 also was awarded the Top Gun award today. They received head of the line privileges for lunch and dinner today and breakfast tomorrow.
Today, Benjamin Franklin came to visit us. He explained the history of the USS Hornet all the way back to first USS Hornet. Cadets also received classroom training on Naval History, Core Values, Leadership, Decision Making, Ships, and Ranks.
Cadets had the opportunity to participate in a replenishment exercise. They daisy chained about 50 case of water and other supplies 2 decks below to our galley. It took them 8 and half minutes to do so.
Congratulations to division 3 for being awarded top gun for a second day in a row. We are now down to the last 2 days before graduation and the race for honor division is on heading into graduation day. Who will come out on top? Your cadets received instruction from the Coast Guard Auxillary on safe boating practices. They took a 60 question exam to obtain their license to drive a water vessel. Way to go Cadets.
Cadets enjoyed some division time Thursday with their Division Officers and LPO's. Division One focused on marching and Division Two and Three worked on shining their shoes. Both divisions spent some well deserved time with each other.
Friday morning started with our Food Services/Supply Officer being "Chopped" by LCDR Joe Martin, USN Supply Corps. LCDR Thiessen, NSCC was ceremoniously given the supply corps "pork chop" insignia for his hard work keeping all the cadets and staff feed throughout the week. After breakfast, we had our final morning muster where Division one was awarded the final top gun. Cadets then put to test their knowledge from the week in a PT/Final exam prep games. Cadets rotated stations where they incorporated PT and question review for their final exam.
Exam day for Cadets! You would be proud to know that no one failed and most of our graduating class scored above an 90%. Way to go cadets!
Star Wars come to visit the USS Hornet!
Awards boards is the cumulation event for 3 cadets from each division. They are graded on their knowledge, military bearing, uniform, and their ability to push through their nerves in front of 4 instructions. Serving on this years board was AMC Dayhoff, our Senior enlisted advisior, LTJG McBride, the training officer, LCDR Martin, Operations Officer, and LT Hertel, the OIC.
